Wood.ED Academy is a joinery manufacturing business that undertakes all bespoke joinery work from doors, window, staircases, conservatories, fitted furniture, kitchens and any thing else you can think of made from wood.
Wood.ED Academy also offer carpentry, bench joinery and furniture, tutoring and consultation service aimed at individuals looking to improve their woodworking skills. We are dedicated to providing high-quality workshops and rental bench space. Our blog offers valuable woodworking tips and insights for woodworking enthusiasts. With over 50 years of combined experience in the different trade industry, including having teaching qualifications, Wood.ED Academy is committed to empowering students and helping them gain the confidence to achieve their woodworking goals.

About Wood.ED Academy
Situated on the rugged north Cornish coast, Perranporth is approximately eight miles west of Truro and eight miles south of Newquay, located within easy reach of the A30 and all Cornwall’s attractions.

Perranporth is best known for its glorious beach, and rightly so. Three miles of soft golden sand provide more than enough space to accommodate dog walkers, kite flyers and picnicking families.
Dogs are allowed all year round, although during July and August, they are required to be on a lead between 10am and 5pm on the main beach area, but there are still the sand dunes and the remainder of the beach after flat rocks where they can be left off their leads.
Children love the rockpools, caves and the seawater swimming pool built into the back of iconic Chapel Rock.Perranporth is renowned for good waves, and has a number of surf schools and surf hire shops.
The beach is monitored by lifeguards during the main school holidays, and daily from May to September.
About the Tutor
Michael is the founder of Wood.ED Academy and is an experienced craftsman whose career in the trade began with an apprenticeship in 1997. Since then, he has dedicated his career to mastering and teaching the skills of the industry. From business owner, becoming a fully qualified FE teacher, holding an DET, TAQA and IQA qualification, and now running Wood.ED Academy he brings decades of hands‑on knowledge, problem‑solving ability, and a genuine passion for the craft.
His background gives him a rare blend of practical expertise and instructional skill, making him a steady, reliable presence in every workshop or project he supports.

His calm, knowledgeable presence brings confidence to clients and colleagues alike, and his commitment to high standards is evident in every project he works on.

Welcome to our bench rental service, where qualified students enhance their advanced carpentry skills in a supportive and hands-on environment.
We offer a comprehensive range of services, including expert guidance in stud walling, skirting, architraves, flooring, encasements, panelling, and roof construction.
Our advanced bench joinery techniques cover everything from setting out with rod drawing and design work to the manufacturing of doors, windows, conservatories, shopfronts, kitchens, and bookcases.
In addition to practical skills, we provide machine training to help you build confidence while working with woodworking machinery, prioritising safety throughout the learning process.
For those looking for tailored instruction, we also offer one-on-one confidence-building lessons focused on your specific projects.
